1 879 Perkins Bacon Surface Printed Essay, engraved by W Ridgeway. This essay formed part of the 1880 Tender for the 1/2d value by Perkins Bacon. According to the SG Specialised Catalogue Vol 1, this comes from the printer’s colour trial, engraved by William Ridgeway. Mostly in other colours, Turquoise-Green appears to have been a rarer colour trial. This rare strip comprises 3 x unmounted mint stamps with the left margin on gummed paper. There is a light hinge mark on the reverse of the margin. There is a bend on the 3rd stamp that does not show from the front. Lovely fresh colour with clear, light gum and good perfs. Superb positional item – RARE in a strip of 3. No thins, tears, toning or perf splits. The gallery images are either photographs or scans of the actual item you will receive. No image has been enhanced or edited in any way. Quality and settings of screens vary widely which can affect image clarity and colour.
