It is frame with conservation grade acid-free materials plus UV blocking glass to protect and preserve this limited edition print for generations. The frame is solid Fir wood with Poplar veneer stained gray. This frame was inspired by the natural, weathered landscape of Dillon, Montana. The pattern is subtle and enhances the overall beauty of the art. The matting is a mossy sage green suede with a lighter green accent underneath and antiqued gold fillet (fill-it) that frames the art and stamp individually within the picture frame. All the colors are a neutral palette that bring out the natural beauty of the colors and texture in the wood ducks feathers. A trio of wood ducks flies at dawn above a flooded river bottom. The wood ducks eerie squealing call is common in eastern Texas where the birds thrive around the edges of huge man made lakes and the rivers that feed them. Many people consider the wood duck drake as the most exquisite North American duck. Though seldom attracted by decoys, the wood duck is also a favorite of duck hunters. Wood ducks are year round Texas residents. They do not migrate in traditional fashion. The hen often makes her nest in the hollow of a tree, well above the reach of raccoons, snakes and other predators. Herb Booth has been a stalwart Texas conservationist artist. This marks his third duck stamp and hes also done the art for three saltwater stamps, a turkey stamp and a quail stamp. Booth, a lifelong naturalist, lives in Rockport.
