The Canada goose is the goose species that everyone recognizes, and for good reason. Most waterfowl species do not vary much in size between individuals but Canada geese range from giant honkers weighing over 20 pounds to mallard-size cacklers. The geese have made nuisances of themselves around airports and golf courses and many states now have resident populations that never migarate. The east Texas population has become so plentiful that, in September, 2012, Texas had its first early Canada goose season coinciding with early teal season. Michigan artist Gary Moss is no stanger to Texas conservation stamps. His art has appeared on the 1987 Texas Waterfowl Stamp, and the 1992 Texas Nongame.
