2012 Texas Duck Stamp Print. Canadian Geese by Gary Moss. This Texas duck stamp print of Canadian geese has been custom framed by our family’s custom retail frame shop. It is frame with conservation grade acid-free materials plus UV blocking glass to protect and preserve this limited edition print for generations. The frame is solid wood with a beautiful aged dark brown stain. The pattern is subtle and enhances the overall beauty of the art. The matting is a golden tan suede and chocolate brown suede accent underneath and gold rope/braid fillet (fill-it) that frames the art and stamp individually within the picture frame. All the colors are a neutral palette that bring out the natural beauty of the colors and texture in the Canadian geese feathers. The Canada goose is the goose species that everyone recognizes, and for good reason. Most waterfowl species do not vary much in size between individuals but Canada geese range from giant honkers weighing over 20 pounds to mallard-size cacklers. The geese have made nuisances of themselves around airports and golf courses and many states now have resident populations that never migarate. The east Texas population has become so plentiful that, in September, 2012, Texas had its first early Canada goose season coinciding with early teal season. Michigan artist Gary Moss is no stanger to Texas conservation stamps. His art has appeared on the 1987 Texas Waterfowl Stamp, and the 1992 Texas Nongame. 1988 Federal Waterfowl Duck Stamp Print. Redheads by Arthur Anderson. This is the 1987 – 1988 Federal waterfowl conservation print and stamp. Trio of Redheads migrating over marshy waters. About the artist – As presented on the print folio. This was Arthur Anderson’s fifth time to enter the Federal contest. He decided to paint the Redhead because “They are a pretty bird, they hadn’t won in a number of years and they frequent all the flyways making them a well known bird”. When the call came from the U. The matting is a mossy sage green silk with a red silk accent underneath and rustic weathered red fillet (fill-it) that frames the art and stamp individually within the picture frame. All the colors are a neutral palette that bring out the natural beauty of the colors and texture in the Cinnamon Teal’s feathers. Cinnamon teal are one of the most distinctive of all ducks, named for the rich cinnamon colors of the drake. Cinnamon teal are the same size as a blue-winged teal and fly in the same tight flocks, swirling across open, marshy areas. In Texas, the cinnamon teal is most often seen along the coast near the Mexico border. Many of these elegantly-colored birds winter in Mexico. Its one of only two species of ducks (the other is the ruddy duck) thats known to breed in both North and South America. Calvin Carter saw plenty of teal hunting and fishing along the Texas coast. Carter also painted this years Texas Saltwater Stamp art and the Texas Freshwater Stamp art for 2013. 2007 Texas Saltwater Print. Snook by David Drinkard. This Texas saltwater stamp print of a Snook fish has been custom framed by our family’s custom retail frame shop. It is framed with conservation grade acid-free materials plus UV blocking museum glass to protect and preserve this limited edition print for generations. The frame is solid wood with a beautiful rustic weathered finish. An acrobatic snook fedies gravity in this Texas fishing scene that would have been considered unlikely just a few years ago. Over fishing and pollution made this dramatic game fish scarce in late 20th century Texas bays. Snook populations are on the rebound now and the odds of hooking a hard-fighting snook are steadily improving. David Drinkard is a Texas native whose regular field trips hone an intimate knowledge of saltwater fishing, upland and big game hunting. Drinkard is a regular contributor to the Texas Conservation Stamp program. The matting is a beige suede that plays off the light and shadows of the feathers of these beautiful Redheads. The accent mats are black and a textured tan, brown, and black. This was Arthur Anderson’s fifth time to enter the Federal contest. He decided to paint the Redhead because “They are a pretty bird, they hadn’t won in a number of years and they frequent all the flyways making them a well known bird”. When the call came from the U.
